Monkey Man (Toots and the Maytals, 1969)

"The Specials go Toots & The Maytals" Jamaican Ska version

Featured twice in 2017 on Toots and the Maytals Official Facebook page!

In 1969 this incredible standard of Ska by Toots Hibbert saw the light as a jab at their producer Leslie Kong (and then you wonder why!). Covered by so many artists from then on, we like to remember Amy Winehouse, who included this song in all her shows, and of course The Specials, legendary British 2 Tone Ska band of the late 70s, whose version we like to bring back to Jamaica in this video. With our signature of course, but yet with that spirit and having a lot of fun. See y’all next year 2016 folks, let’s skank all together this 2015 away and… Do the monkey!
