Your Love is King (Sade, 1984)

Swing Vintage Blue Beat Sade version ft. Rosa Smit

Released as Diamond Life album’s lead single in the UK on February 25, 1984 and on June 22, 1985 as the album’s third and final US single, this song became the group’s highest-charting hit to-date on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number-six. Together with other artists of those times, like Everything But The Girl or Matt Bianco, Sade represented the jazzy-sleak side of brit-pop, building a bridge between atmospheres of the past and new trends in music. A pioneer of what’s going on in the worldwide music scenario for a few years now, with examples like Amy Winehouse or Caro Emerald, just to name two of the many. The Invisibles pay gladly their tribute, placing the arrangement in a late night club atmosphere back in the 40s, of course impregnated by their traditional Caribbean offbeat flavor. It’s never too late for some cool swinging. And for a drink.
